Welcome

The Family Spirit Center is a a brand new community based organization being birthed in Berkeley, California. While today we are just a tiny tender tendril of something innovative and exciting, we hope that the Center might take root and come to thrive for the betterment of our whole community.

Today, we are a small, dedicated, diverse and ever growing circle of Berkeley residents and stakeholders who are invested in the wellbeing of the most vulnerable people in our community: our children, our elders, and our homeless. We pay particular attention to the health, wellbeing and empowerment of immigrants and people of color among us. We are an interspiritual, interfaith, multiracial organization that spans the spectrums of genders, sexualities, and incomes. We are a community-based, community-supported and trauma-informed organization that is invested and figuring out how to become a compassionate and justice-oriented community.

We at The Family Spirit Center come together with a shared conviction: When we thoughtfully and compassionately attend to the vulnerable people in our households and in our communities, while similtaneously attending to vulnerable parts of ourselves, we all become stronger, healthier, and closer to whole. And we can only do it together, with lots of help and input from caring others.Together we are living into new solutions to the most intractable problems in our community by putting healing and empowering relationships and resources into the lives of the people who need them most. Which is ultimately, every single one of us.

If you share our vision and want to be part of bringing to life a new ethos in Berkeley, one where every person is claimed, cared for, and lifted up–starting with our most vulnerable–please join us! We are just becoming and would love to be shaped by who you are, what you know, and by what you have to give such an creative, community initiative.
