Our Team Rev. Angela Jernigan, M.Div., is the founder and co-minister of the Family Spirit Center. She is an artist, an educator, a community organizer and a family minister. In 2012, Rev. Jernigan left traditional ministry to build a community-based practice of support and education for parents of young children – regardless of their stated faith or spiritual beliefs. Since then, she has been working with culturally diverse populations to create conditions for radical belonging in settings both private and public, faith-based and secular. Through arts programming, listening circles, parenting classes, and activities designed to bring people together to experience belonging across lines of difference. She loves to collaborate with others to create healing-centered spaces rooted in justice (thank you to RYSE Center for inspiring this language!). Ursula McClure, M.Div has been a partner in the formation and leadership of the Family Spirit Center since its inception. She currently plays a critical role leading Listening Circles for African American mothers and community leaders who are feeling impacted by the social conditions of our time. A mother and grandmother, in her own right, Ursula has worked for twenty years as a licensed minister, and for the past ten years as an administrator in the non-profit sector. Most recently, Ursula has worked for an agency dedicated to creating transformational programs for children and families impacted by trauma. Ursula has a Masters of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion and an undergraduate degree in organizational behavior and liberal studies. Her passion is to contribute to creating conditions that help all families thrive, especially those who suffer with acute hardship due to mental health challenges, poverty, and institutional racism.
